Our Story

Career Management Associates (CMA) is a Verified Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) with over seventy-five (75) years of experience enhancing Government and Corporate performance through professional recruiting, staffing, management training, coaching, and leadership development. CMA is a GSA Schedule Holder dedicated to our client’s success by spending the time necessary to understand strategic recruiting and operational needs while developing proactive solutions. We fully understand the challenges our government clients face in finding temporary, administrative, and professional employees to fulfill vital roles. We further understand the diversity in our society, and the increasing complexities of modern Government needs.

CMA has provided contract employees in over forty (40) states and the territory of Puerto Rico, supporting the Department of Defense, Veterans Affairs, the National Institutes of Health, Department of Justice, Defense Finance and Accounting System, Federal Aviation Administration, Department of Agriculture, and state governments. We utilize state of the art technology and a diverse network to provide quality candidates and operational support. A key focus of our management approach is contract risk mitigation. Our approach will minimize contract start-up risk, maximize contract performance, and guarantee contract success. We are dedicated to enhancing contract performance and making each contract a model for superior Program and Services Support across the Federal government.

CMA was founded in 2003 by William (Bill) Grimes in Ankeny, IA. Bill has served as the President of CMA for the past eighteen (18) years, providing strategic leadership and guidance for the company and its employees. Before starting CMA, Bill served almost twenty-two (22) years in the United States Army as a Logistics/Senior Operations Officer. His assignments included service in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War, and various assignments, including operations and command positions, throughout the continental United States and three (3) locations in the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG). The assignments supported historic units such as the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) and the Tank Automotive Command (TACOM) in the United States; and the Berlin Brigade and 8th Infantry Division (Mechanized) in the FRG. Bill has an MBA from Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts, and a BS from Colorado State University – Pueblo, formerly the University of Southern Colorado.
